OCA Director General Husain Al-Musallam Visits Nazarbayev University

Nazarbayev University (NU) welcomed Mr. Husain Al-Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and President of World Aquatics, during his working visit to Kazakhstan. As part of his tour of Astana’s key sports facilities, Mr. Al-Musallam visited NU, highlighting the university’s significant contributions to sports science, education, and medical innovation.

Mr. Al-Musallam began his visit with meetings at the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. During these discussions, he commended the NOC’s initiatives to support athletes, their education, and career development, as well as Kazakhstan’s active participation in international sports programs.

At Nazarbayev University, Mr. Al-Musallam toured the state-of-the-art Athletic Center, which integrates advanced technologies to support education, research, and athletic performance. The visit included presentations by NU researchers, students, and faculty, showcasing innovative projects in sports medicine, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement.

A significant highlight was the NU School of Medicine’s Master’s Program in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, which focuses on advancing knowledge in injury prevention, evidence-based rehabilitation, and performance optimization. This program equips graduates with the skills to address the health and performance needs of athletes, contributing to the development of sports medicine locally and globally.

Mr. Al-Musallam praised NU’s interdisciplinary approach to integrating medicine, sports sciences, and technology. He also highlighted the importance of fostering collaboration between academic institutions, sports organizations, and government bodies to enhance sports medicine and athlete development.
