NU School of Medicine Professor speaks at Astana Medical University Seminar

On April 1 - 5, 2024, Professor Antonio Sarria-Santamera, Acting Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Program Director of the Ph.D. in Global Health at Nazarbayev University School of Medicine (NU School of Medicine), conducted a seminar titled "Health Services Research" for graduate students at Astana Medical University (AMU). This seminar was part of a broader multilayered partnership effort under a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the NU School of Medicine and AMU.

During the week-long seminar, Professor Sarria-Santamera engaged with graduate students from various disciplines, imparting essential research skills and insights into the effective management and improvement of health services. The seminar covered a wide range of topics, including the evaluation of healthcare systems, policy implementation, and the critical role of generic pharmaceuticals in national health improvement.

This collaboration aims to bolster the academic and professional capacities of students, as well as to reinforce the research and healthcare infrastructures of Kazakhstan. By pooling their resources and expertise, Nazarbayev University and Astana Medical University are setting a precedent for future national and international cooperation in healthcare education and research.
