UMC

“University Medical Center” Corporate Fund was founded pursuant to the decision of the board of trustees of the autonomous organization of education “Nazarbayev University” dated 20 September 2015.


UMC with a capacity of 475 in-patient beds and 500 out-patient ambulatory examinations per shift combines two innovative medical centers: Diagnostic Center (DC) and Mother and Child Center (MCC).


UMC centers have been accredited according to the standards of Joint Commission International, a prestigious international certification in the field of healthcare.


UMC is a part of the integrated academic healthcare system of Nazarbayev University (NU Medicine).


The purpose of the system is to promote the healthcare of Kazakhstan through the integration of clinical, educational and research activities. This integration has enormous advantages; it will contribute to the provision of modern medical education and will act to raise the standards of healthcare, focused on the patient and his family, at UMC Centers.

UMC Hospitals

Diagnostic Center (DC)
  • The center specializes in providing consultative and diagnostic medical care to adults and children using the latest technologies and evidence-based medicine in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases;
  • Has been operating since 2008;
  • The human resources potential of the Center is more than 725 employees, including about 250 doctors and 300 mid-level medical workers;
  • Performs 500 visits per shift;
  • Highly qualified doctors in 46 specialties provide consulting assistance, including allergology, gynecology, mammology, pediatrics, neurology, uronephrology, fetal medicine and much more;
  • More than 650 types of laboratory tests are carried out, including COVID-19 diagnostics. More than 1 million laboratory tests are carried out annually in the DC.
  • Equipped with a positron emission tomograph (PET/CT) and a single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), as well as a production line for the manufacturing of radiopharmaceuticals.
Mother and Child Center (MCC)
  • The Center is the largest multidisciplinary hospital in the field of obstetrics, gynecology, urology, pediatrics, neonatology, IVF and pediatric surgery.
  • Has been operating since 2007;
  • The bed capacity is 475 beds;
  • The human resources potential of the Center is more than 1,000 employees, including about 260 doctors and 555 mid-level medical workers;
  • Provides about 60 types of highly specialized medical care to women, pregnant women, women in labor, and children under 18 years of age;
  • Medical care is provided to over 15 000 patients annually;
  • Number of accepted deliveries is more than 48 000;
  • The number of IVF procedures is over 2500;
  • Provides methodological assistance to regional clinics;
  • Successfully implemented technologies:
-The use of modern types of surgery in gynecological diseases (laparoscopic, organ-preserving plastic surgery);
-Obstetric aid in the clinic and neonatology;
-Peritoneal dialysis in newborns;
-Diagnostic and treatment of children's age pathologies, including orphan (rare) and autoimmune diseases;
-Diagnostic and treatment of oncological and oncohematological diseases in children;
-Kidney and liver transplantation in children;
-The umbilical cord blood collection and transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells;
-Endoprosthesis of joints, including at hemophilia in children;
-Surgical correction of scoliotic deformity in children;
-Reconstructive-plastic surgeries on trachea and larynx in children;
-Genetic diagnosis;
-Interventional diagnostic and treatment procedures, reconstructive and hybrid surgical interventions.
